I wanted to do a painting with color and added dimension (with extended backround) of the "Pieta" as if to bring the statue to life. The original is perfect in form and very 3d but I wanted to add more mood and drama to it or at least show another aspect or view of it expressing the numbness and hopelessness of death of a loved one.
