"Every Artist dips his brush into his soul and paints his own
nature into his pictures."
~ Henry Ward Beecher ~
Hi, my name is Marcine Dillon. Most of my friends and family call me Marcy. I'm an artist in a small city in beautiful NW Oregon.
Everywhere I look I see "art". I love art and creating . . . I always have. I have been drawing and creating things as far back as I can remember and can only say its part of my life and being. Creating art was and always has been a way of play for me. I just did it and still do it. I would say that a great part of my art is an outlet . . . for an overly stimulated mode that I'm so often in.
As an Artist I dip my brush into many medium; Watercolor, Oil, Gouache, Acrylic, Pen and Ink and mixed media. I've done art in just about every medium possible! Right now my media of choice is definitely pen and ink. I also love to throw some gouache or watercolor in there along with the pen and ink to give more contrast in texture and color. How can I ever limit myself?! I will use anything to get the desired effect I'm looking to convey to my viewers. In the near future I hope to incorporate an extra dimension into some of my works. I'm an art supply junkie; my house even looks like an art supply store!
During grade school I would come across the advertisements in the back of magazines looking for future artists. I'm sure some of you remember the ones asking you to draw the deer or the pirate, among other subjects, and send them in. Well, I did . . . not just once, but many times! I'd even draw my own characters and send them in. It wasn't long before my mother started receiving letters and then phone calls trying to enroll me in their "art school/institute". Once she explained my age, they told her I should pursue art in the future.
I have had no formal training, no teachers, art history lessons or theory of art and couldn't begin to analysis or express my opinion about any of it. I just do it . . . Art that is . . . whether it be drawing, painting or one of my many projects that I have started. Some have been realized while others are only in sketches, models in my mind waiting to come out and be brought to life. How it's brought to life is the fun of creating It's a great feeling to know that a piece of my artwork may have made someone's day . . . that they've found that "perfect" piece . . . or when someone says they just love my art-work!
My Mom was my biggest
"cheer-leader" for my art. I've always shared my art and my plan's
with my Mom. She always encouraged me to follow my dreams and continued to
encourage and motivate me all the way up until she passed away Jan. 13th, 2009,
of Carcinoid cancer, a rare form of cancer. She encouraged me throughout my life to do something with my
art. My Mom has given me the motivation to succeed!
My art involves all
of the magic and wonder that's around us. There is no limit when it comes to
this area! I love the myths, fables, legends and stories we grew up with. A
great deal of inspiration also comes from old fairy tale books. I also love whimsical, fantasy and science-fiction subject matter
because it can be as strange or beautiful as we can imagine it to be.
If you enjoy what you like or have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch.
I hope you enjoy my
art as much as I enjoy creating it!
Hold on to your dreams ~
Marcine
