Lisa Marie Demarte

Artist's Profile

After acquiring a visual impairment from a life-threatening illness, becoming an artist seemed unthinkable! Yet, it was through art that I was able to channel my emotions, hopes and dreams into a healing synthesis. Unable to work anymore in a traditional sense, I became a full-time artist to support my family. Now I see things differently... colour is one of my joys in life; I am grateful to have retained this priceless treasure. Through my work, it is my hope to uplift and inspire.

My work is often classed as "intuitive", born from the necessity to develop my other, higher senses. I am inspired by colour, the beauty of nature and also by that which cannot be seen... yet is sensed. Works depicting faith, beauty, reverence, innocence... rising above the trials of the physical world. Having children, I love to illustrate for them - creating books that capture their imagination and rekindle the childhood sense of wonder.

Thank you for supporting me.

Lisa.

BIOGRAPHY

Lisa's art is heavily influenced by a diverse cultural heritage, descending from the Royal Houses of Europe. Intricately detailed works of art inspired by family treasures throughout the ages, Lisa creates timeless collectables that are sure to become your own treasured heirlooms.

Art is also an inherited gift it would seem. Lisa also is a great grandaughter & niece to the famous Waterford Artists: Thomas Sautelle Roberts & Thomas Roberts, the sons of Waterford Architect John Roberts & his French wife Mary Susannah Sautelle.

Having studied painting at University, her work is refined and known for the use of brilliant colour, pattern, attention to fine detail and evoking a sense of nostalgia; the viewer is literally drawn in and mesmerised by the piece, whilst embarking on a multi-sensorial journey.

Her illustrated series A Mothers Love has just been published in the children's book I Can See... Available through Ingram Book Company, Barnes & Noble, Bowker, Nielsen, Amazon and other book stores.
