I was paired with Kelli Dubay for the 5th Annual ebsq Portrait Swap, and when we exchanged digital images to use for inspiration, both of us noted that we looked a little bit alike (although I think Kelli is more of a knock-out than I am). I began working on Kelli's portrait and it was probably about halfway completed when my boyfriend walked in, saw the piece, and asked if it was me. I wish! But at this point, you can imagine how I came up with the title for the piece. :-)
I think Kelli has very striking features, so I decided to play them up even more by doing her in the not-so-unusual but striking pop style - large shapes, bright colors and high contrast. I also think Kelli has beautiful hair, so I gave it equal billing, so to speak, which is why her hair occupies almost as much of the canvas as her face.

Dubay... or Not Dubay? Not Dubay. (This is me).

This is Dubay. :-)
