Artist Statement

As long as I can remember I have loved observing, drawing and creating. Surrounded by the beauty of God's creations and man's designs, it is an awesome and humbling experience to express these in my own images and by my own hands.

My passion has become intensified through watercolor. I love the translucency, movement and vibrancy of the medium. My background in sculpture pushes me to create strong forms and my love of color is evident.

Every subject brings its own challenges, but capturing the uniqueness of an individual is the most interesting and the most challenging. The challenge ignites the passion and the painting begins.

Bio Information

Having earned a degree in art education from the University of Oregon, I have taught art to high school students for over 20 years and currently teach watercolor classes in the evening to adults. Much of my learning is the result of studying under national instructors, such as Jan Kunz and Mel Stabin, through publications and through teaching beginners. I am a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon.

My husband and I travel extensively and these experiences are reflected in the subjects of my artwork.
