I am a self-taught artist, and have been drawing and painting all my life. Early on, I showed a particular love of, and aptitude for, drawing horses, and equine subject matter remains a specialty of mine, although I now mostly paint dog portraits for the many dog owners who are passionate about their pooches.
I have been painting commissioned dog, cat and horse portraits (with a few bunnies thrown in here and there) since about 1983. Most pet portraits are done in pastel, as there is often a deadline for a birthday or Christmas, and pastel is a faster medium than oil, and less expensive. I have painted many posthumous portraits as well.
Apart from the portraits, I do whatever strikes my fancy at the time. One thing I love to do is create functional art, or objets d'art. I like painting on wooden boxes, which are so beautiful and useful to hide small things, I make jewelry, and I love to knit. I also spin my own yarn sometimes. Everything I do revolves around making something useful and/or beautiful.
