Here is young Perseus with his dog, in the background, foreshadowing of his future; the mirrored shield with which he dispatched Medusa and the Argonauts' ship. This is one of those "surprise" results, a painting that started life as a pure abstract and then morphed and morphed. Ah, the joys of a classical education.
