Artist's Profile

Gail L. Richards is a writer and artist living in McCall, Idaho - a 3-season resort community on Payette Lake.

After moving from Alaska, where she spent 20 years, Richards says nature and unlikely characters from both states inspire her work.

In Alaska, Gail's artwork has been shown in Seward at Resurrect Art and Coffee House, The Ranting Raven, and The Edgewater Hotel. Her work was also featured at Homer's Picture Alaska Art Gallery in October, 2007, and September, 2008.

Richards was commissioned to complete a series of original drawings of historic airplanes on aviation maps for the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum at Anchorage in 2006.

She was an active member of the Seward Mural Society, and contributed to the community through teaching or donating art skills and time through various programs. After moving to McCall in June, 2009, Richards waded deep into the art scene and has written several feature articles for The Star News. In addition to painting almost every day, Richards became Vice President of the Artists of McCall guild and had her paintings featured at three different galleries before opening her own venue in the historic downtown business district. The House of Color Gallery features mostly local artists and is open 6 days a week. Gail has also created an online presence for the gallery at: www.houseofcolorgallery.com.
