Artist Statement

I will start off by saying that art of all things in this life is created to soothe ones soul. I can say everything is art and art is everything. But is it really? I believe we should not judge art we should just embrace it. Because it is always evolving. Different art speaks to wide range of people. Some people like abstract and others like impressionist landscapes and some people don't understand your art while others look at your work and feel the energy and every brush strokes that went into creating it.  For me art is self expression in it's purest form. It's a way out of the ordinary world and into the mind of your imagination.

About me

Self taught Eugene Suhanov the artist  born in 1981 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan Ever since i was little me and my dad would go mountain climbing every summer, over the years i developed a love for nature and scenic mountain ranges. Years later after moving to Canada i missed our yearly visits to the mountain side so i started to paint nothing but mountains in my paintings. I didn't become interested in art until grade 11 when i started to paint landscapes, mostly self taught, i developed some skills with private teachers but it was always my passion that kept me motivated to paint more and more. what makes my work stand out is the use of limited palette and tonal balance.  Over 12 years experience and over 300 paintings sold world wide, i am constantly producing stunning landscapes that depict nature in this beautiful country.  When i started painting i used mainly oil as my medium and became quite comfortable so most of my early work was done in oil, I made the switch to acrylic to see if it could help me with different applications and i never looked back from there.

Influential Artists

Claude Monet and Salvador Dali have been the most inspirational artists to me. Claude Monet has been one of my idol and mentors from when i just started painting, his colours, his brush strokes have always been so magical and detailed. It was Something i wanted to learn as an artist to create the balance of light and the use of palette like Monet.

Salvador Dali was a great inspiration as well, I have studied his work and have come to love the use of own imagination to create magical pieces that you only see in your subconsious mind.
