I use recycled and reclaimed materials to produce individually handcrafted beaded indie artisan boutique jewelry items in my studio in New Mexico.

Most recently I have been focusing on game piece jewelry. I offer a large variety of Mahjongg bracelets from vintage, antique and contemporary materials including: bakelite, catalin, lucite, marblelite, bone and bamboo and pyralin celluloid.

I also have charm bracelets and earrings made from dice, scrabble letter tiles and bingo calling numbers.

The lovely Asian characters of the Mah Jongg tiles are what drew me to these game sets. I am a hunter-gatherer in terms of art supplies. I find interesting items, move them from place to place in my home/studio, look at them occasionally and trip over them for 2 years until finally one day I figure out how to use them.

The Mah Jong bracelets started by accident. I saw someone throwing out a half set of Mahjong tiles. They were too lovely to wind up in the trash so I offered to give them a good home and left. They sat in a box in my studio for over a year until about 2 years ago. I found them again while hunting for new materials to work with and laid them out on my work table to contemplate their future. A few days later I decided that they would make fun jewelry.

I do try to complete broken sets of Mahjong tiles, but due to the way different plastics, such as bakelite, age it isn't always possible. I use orphans or broken sets to create my jewelry and mixed media art.
