I started and finished this during the deary wet winter months. I wanted something bright and happy to work. It took quite awhile to finish.
This mosiac was created using stained glass, Van Gogh glass, mirror glass, handpainted heatset porcelain and other handcut crockery. The surface is a recyled cabinet door from the Habitat for Humanity "Re-Store" shop. The "frame" portion is painted in acrylics. For grout I used SpectraLock Chambray with Gold Dazzle.
This is a highly reflective piece. Please look at the other photos at different angles.
Insects see differently than we do, with multi-faceted eyes. When I made these I was thinking - this is what the insect sees.
