Artist's Profile

I don't often consider myself an artist except in rare moments because I bleed so many passions. At least technology allows me to bring together some of the following: geek girl writer jewelry maker photographer crafter sculptor

How to combine these seeming disparte elements into one functioning focus has been my greatest challenge. After years of trying to do just one thing at a time I'm starting to combining these passions into my master works.

There are a growing number of fine artists and jewelers who make steampunk jewelry. I often realize that I work from a different angle. I have always read science fiction and love the Cyberpunk Movement. One of my favorite writers began Steampunk in the 90s, and to me the foundation of both these "trends" - Steam and Cyber - have their basis in literature. And as a writer I feel the worlds created by those words - and strive to bring it out in my art.

I don't make a lot of steampunk jewelry, but I try and create special pieces that are unique, indicative of the genre, influenced by technology and most importantly signify a story.

I've started a series of recycling-based jewelry and art called my "Industrial Evolution Series" because it is not just the technology that is evolving into jewelry but it is my soul that is undergoing a change as well. In both the art and the jewelry there are strong influences of old technology like vacuum tubes, pieces of machinery, bits of computers, wire as well as clockwork... you'll see photos of industrial abandoned spaces, you will find stories that reflect a true passion for the wonders created by machines and by the hands of humanity.

I'm a published writer - who goes by the name C.A. Manestar.
