Artist's Profile

Perhaps I should title this "Confessions of an Online Artist" as the venue of the internet has had much to do with my growth as an artist. It has been quite a journey since I have been selling online since 2001.

In the beginning of this online journey, being a self representing artist gave me the freedom to explore my imagination and talent in a variety of styles. I found a receptive audience for this on ebay. When someone noted the variety, they emailed me asking the question, "Did you paint this too?" In a traditional gallery it is not as acceptable to be so widely spread style-wise, but this is what I have said about selling online, I do it because I can. However in my art journey I am finding that selling in this venue has brought me to where I have been able to refine a style that is now present in the brick and mortar galleries in which I am represented. After all, the key to success in art sales is for the collectors to be able to recognize your work! Over the years I have arrived at the conclusion that success comes in branding, which means that people find your work consistently recognizable.

Why I paint... My passion for art wakes me each day with new ideas and a zest to paint and explore. I love the beauty of the human form and have studied the techniques of the masters. I am proficient in portrait painting and realism in general because I believe that you must have a firm foundation in the basic fundamentals of art before you can depart from it to find your own style. My whimsical style is light hearted and portrays my sense of humor in simple things. My "gallery" style has evolved from a love of impressionistic art, texture and is often whimsical. My online work often crosses over to what I do for the galleries, but more often is a bit different, and is what I term as whimsical folk art.

My portfolio contains an image history of the selection of styles I have offered on ebay. Thanks for peeking!

Biography

I am a native of Salt Lake City, Utah with a heritage of art that comes from my mother's side. My great, great grandfather and his son were sculptors and worked in stone. That's a nice way to say they created beautiful, delicately designed headstones! My mother is a painter and art has always been present in my life.

I have five wonderful children, two of whom have followed in an artistic career of designing video games for Disney. My other children are pursing careers in logistics, technical customer service and pharmacy technician. I am very proud of my children!

As a full time artist, I enjoy entering juried shows and have won many awards locally. I am represented by Local Colors Gallery in Salt Lake City, UT, Paisley Pomegranite, Salt Lake City UT and Main Street Artisans, Evanston, Wyoming.
