Alice is lost in the Tulgey wood, where several mysterious pairs of eyes watch from the trees…. And one sliver of a moon-shaped smile…
This piece was inspired by the Alice in Wonderland / Through the Looking Glass books by Lewis Carroll, as well as his poem "Jabberwocky" (where the Tulgey Wood comes from). It was painted first in global watercolor washes, then glazes from light to dark, and the tree and grass texture was created by dropping clean water into the wet paint.
