Commission Information

This artist accepts work by commission. Read below for details.
SEE MY GALLERY OF CUSTOM ARTWORK HERE

I accept animal/pet portrait, people portrait, botanical/landscape and whimsical illustrative commission work. If you are interested in having some custom artwork done, please email me at yarmsicle@gmail.com with your ideas!

Current prices are listed at the bottom of this page.

I will need to know:
- Size you are interested in or budget if you are not sure of the size
- If a portrait, how many people/animal faces are in it (more than one likeness will increase the price)
- Any ideas you might have, including backgrounds
- Any medium preferences (I work primarily in watercolor and/or colored pencil, but also work in acrylics, oils, graphite, and combinations of two or more of those). Straight oil pieces will usually add to the cost some, and straight graphite pieces will usually be a bit less.
- Where the artwork will be shipped to so I can figure out shipping options/prices

For portraits:
If you would like a portrait, please make sure that the photographs I will work from are clear and large enough to see details; it is very difficult to get a good likeness without a clear photo or if the face is too small. If possible I like to have a few photos to use for reference.

Art style/subject matter:
Please look through the artwork on my website to get a feel for the style I work in. I may turn down a project if it is too far from my style or if the subject matter is something I feel uncomfortable with.

Process:
After getting all the reference photographs (if applicable) from you, I will do a sketch and email you a picture of it. If you want any changes made, we will work on those until it looks the way you like. If you have any color preferences, let me know. After that I will begin the painting, and when it is done I will email another picture of it for your approval. Please note that at the painting stage, changes are very difficult/sometimes not possible to make if it is a medium like watercolor or colored pencil. Minor tweaks may be possible, though.
When everything is approved, payment is sent and I ship the painting out to you!

Payment:
If you need a painting that is very large or has costly materials, I may require 50% of the commission price up front in order to get the materials needed, with the balance paid upon completion.
Payment must be made in US funds -- the easiest way for International customers to do this is through Paypal. I will also take credit cards (via Paypal), checks, and money orders. Please note that checks/money orders need to clear before the art ships out.
If you want a painting larger than you can pay for all at once, I can do a "layaway" for you if you'd like to do installments. Just let me know via email (yarmsicle@gmail.com) if you want to do this.
Sorry, I cannot do refunds on art (including on installments) -- the money will have already gone to pay our household bills!

Shipping:
I ship art in a safe manner, in an envelope or box between rigid cardboard with some padding. The painting itself will be in a plastic sleeve. I ship via USPS First Class or Priority Mail.
