The theme of this painting is influenced by my Eastern ancestry and the practice of kirtan (prayers) to Shiva/Shakti in their manifestation as Radha and Krishna. Krishna is the shaktiman possessor of energy and Radha is his shakti. She is the personification of the highest love of God. Radha's passion for Krishna symbolizes the soul's intense longing and willingness for the ultimate unification with God.
The work is inspired by traditional Indian and Persian miniature painting, as well as the palimpsest technique used in illuminated manuscripts.
