The Cat and the Fiddle is my favorite nursery rhyme. It's family lore that when I was a baby "hey diddle diddle" was my first string of words. So far I've painted the cow, the cat and the dish and spoon. All I have yet to do is the laughing dog. I painted these with the hope of painting my own version of a nursery rhyme book at some point. Since I have already illustrated 2 published childrens books for different authors (with 3 more in process), my artistic aim is to focus on more children's books or illustration spots for magazines. These characters were a lot of fun to paint. When I think of kids I think of bright primary colors so that is what I did this in. This is painted with watercolor dyes, inks, a small amount of acrylic, and the finest Blick non-fur synthetic watercolor brushes.
