I have always been a big fan of botanicals. I love the ability to really study the detail of a rather simple, sometimes plain object and detail it out to such an extent that it's hidden beauty emerges...flaws and all. I also like the raw, freshness it holds. This piece was done on 140 lb smooth bristol paper with color pencils. To preserve the integrity of the original botanical style, the individual section writing is my own, I then I traced the ornate typeset titling of the species and genus of the plant. I did the honeycrisp, because as crazy as I am about botanicals...I am not so hot about the taste of apples, with the exception of the Honey crisp!
