Art: Passage by Artist Aisyah Ang
My intention was to restore and reinvent the innocence, the incorruptibility. It does not need to feel righteous, neither have to be naive nor ignorant. This piece shows evidence of balance between sophistication and innocence. It places emphasis on feeling rather than interpretation, emotional reaction rather than trying to explain the meaning of something. Feeling as a result of visual impression given by the drawings or the sensation given by the multiple layers of acrylic paints and rice papers collages when touched. The contra between the light of graphite, oil sticks drawings and the heavily textured impasto objects presents unlimited imagination and represents coexistence of the opposites.
