Prospectus: This is a photography specific show for macro-photography techniques only. Any other media or photographic technique is ineligible for entry.
Macro Photography- The art of taking extreme close up pictures of subjects to bring enhancement of details and textures.
This photographic technique captures its subject so closely that it would be like holding a bug in your hand an inch away from your eyes. The focus is on textures and details, rendering an object in such tight focus the viewer begins to question what exactly he/she is seeing. Imagine the pollen inside a flower, or the eyes of a bee, or the spots on a lady bug. Not to mention the bark on a tree or water droplets on a leaf. Macro is about taking the tiny details and making them life size on print.
Subjects being photographed must fill most of the frame in order to be considered Macro Photography.
A statement detailing the materials, process, and what made you choose your subject is required. It increases understanding of your work and significantly enhances the experience for the viewer.
