Prospectus:

Poetry is meaningful to many people. A poem can affect every person who reads or hears it in a completely unique way. For many, a poem is a very personal thing, even though they never met or shared the same experiences as the writer. Edgar Allen Poe, Emily Dickenson and e. e. cummings each had their own vision and their own way of expressing how they related to the world they inhabited. The words they put together have touched, inspired and delighted.

For "3 Poets: Poe, Dickinson, & cummings", artists are asked to interpret the works of these poets. This can be done for individual poems, the overall body of the poet's work or any of or all three can be included in one piece. Works focusing on one poem need to include the title, poet and pertinent lines from the poem chosen. This is also suggested when addressing the entire body of a poets work and to some degree, when the piece has one or more of the poets as its subject. It is important that each entry be obviously relevant to the theme of the show.

A detailed statement containing the reason you chose the poem(s) or poet(s) that you did and what it/they mean to you is required. The materials and process used to create the piece is also a required part of the statement. This information will significantly enhance the experience for the viewer and allow a greater understanding of your work. If a piece contains fine detail or is 3 dimensional, detail shots are strongly encouraged.
