Prospectus:
It’s December. We do a lot of celebrating in December. There is Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, the Winter Solstice and a myriad of smaller observances and events that will capture our attention this month. We shall shop, we shall eat, we shall gather together and we shall decorate. Oh, how we shall decorate. And that is what this show is about - Holiday decorations. The lights, the candles, the ornaments, the garland - all those things that festoon, bedeck and adorn our environments at this time of year..
This show is open to all media, but all entries should be actual ornaments and decorations that celebrate a seasonal holiday, observance, festival or winter itself. Entries can be old, new or made for this show but they must be made by you and should be three dimensional.
An artist's statement is required with every entry for your work to be eligible. This statement should include information about your entry. Tell us about the materials and process you used to create your entry. Be sure to mention if and how it is special and why you chose to create your entry in the manner that you did. Tell us if it serves a purpose, if it moves and if it is important to understanding the piece, how it works. Your statement is an important element in presenting your work online and helps make your work more accessible for the viewer. We encourage you to share detail shots of all your entries. As entries are to be three dimensional, this will allow the viewer to appreciate the entire piece as well as the small details. If you have any questions regarding the prospectus and its requirements, please send them to edu@ebsqart.com.
