Prospectus: Calendars are, and seem to have always been, a part of human life. They speak of both unknown potential as well as record our history, and their forms can be utterly unique. The Gregorian Calendar is the one we are most familiar with but there is the Julian calendar, the lunar calendar, the Mayan calendar and others. They are equally useful for remembering religious holy days and your daily to-do list. Some are bound as books, some hang, some lay flat on a desk and some are to be enjoyed as much for their form as for their function. Whether ornate or utilitarian, there is something about our attempt to mark and keep something as insubstantial as time that lends them all an enigmatic beauty.Entry Instructions: This show has special entry requirements. All calendars must be of at least one month or an eqivialant. Calendars may be arcane, archaic or obsolete but should be real calendars. Any and all materials may be used to create your calendar. Be sure to tell us what you used to create your entry and how you did it. You should also provide information on your calendar - what kind of calendar it is, what it is/was used for, etc. This artist’s statement is required, so please don’t leave it out. As texture or other small elements may be pivotal to your piece, please include any necessary detail shots. All points of the prospectus should be met. If you have any questions regarding the prospectus and its requirements, please send them to edu@ebsqart.com.
