I have been inspired since my introduction to his art in college by the art of Odilon Redon. I had a desire to express some of the power of his imagery in a way that was my own. It tends to be somewhat impressionistic; the subject matter is entirely my own. One thing that I have noticed about my work is its inclusion of flowers; this is VERY much inspired by this artist. I find this little painting to be somehow full of soul; thus its title, "Soulburst". It is the feeling of the emergence of the soul from behind clouds of fear, frustration, disappointment, etc. into a kind of sunlight of the mind. It is about overcoming & conquering in the face of adversity.
