I would consider myself an abstract surrealist - or perhaps a surreal abstractionist. Georgia O'keefe did some lovely cityscapes while she was in New York. The forms looked real enough, yet there was still that haunting surreal aspect that drew me in. This piece reminds me of those city scapes - real forms with bits of the imagination. The curtain was modelled on an old silk skirt. The three towers in the distance are here in the Lansing area and rumor has it that they are called Huey, Dewey and Louie. The rest is from somewhere in my brain.

About this piece: What has the past done for the present? Where did we come from and where are we headed? The scene in the background represents our advancement in the industrial age. The shadows in the foreground signify the past and what might have been - or what might not have been. I could go on with my own explanation of this piece but I would rather leave it up to the viewer's imagination.

This is available - email to inquire.
