Inspiration:I have always loved Gustav Klimt mostly the colors and the swirls but also the romance, texture and strange angles. This piece was inspired by The Life Tree.
Meaning: This is my "Life Tree" but in hair. I was very obsessed with my long red hair in my early 20's and it was a huge part of my identity at the time. This piece tells a story of my life and all the places I have lived, things that influenced my young adult years. Each image has a story that goes with it.
Creation: Original collage made from text, found images and hand made papers framed in an old window frame. This piece is 32” H x 28” W including window frame, the frame is painted silver and the collage papers are sealed to the glass from the back. To see more about this process see my Collage Article from May 2004
