In Shakespeare's Sonnet 54, he talks about a rose's beauty and fragrance and how, if not for these, the rose would fade "unwoo'd and unrespected". Yes, beauty and fragrance are nice; but, even when faded the spider who built his home here will respect this rose--for strength.
