"If music be the food of love" is the opening line of Shakespeare's play "Twelfth Night". It is a story of confused lovers with comic undertones supplied by Sir Toby Belch and his gang of pranksters. As a theatre artist, Shakespeare is meant to be performed and viewed by an audience. I took this photograph of the child playing Viola in a children's verison of Twelfth Night that I directed. The children were all 3rd graders who fell in love with the comedy of Shakespeare and did a great job sharing this play with their peers. This photograph captures the joyful feeling of the play and its characters as seen through the expression of a child. That joy is captured in this young child's face and body. I altered the photograph with a photoshop elements filter to focus the viewer's eye on her face and its expression which I feel is the magical moment in the play.
