This design features one of our cats sitting on the patio wall admiring the tropical sunset. Cats are very much a part of our home, so it was only a matter of time before I had to include one in a quilt. Every evening we like to sit on the patio and watch the sunset and listen to the sea which is just the other side of the fence, and the cats always like to join us. This quilt is made from a combination of my own hand painted fabric for the sky and commercial batiks in the rest of the deisn. It is constructed using a variety of appliqué techniques and embellished with machine embroidery and quilting. In the border I have used a variegated thread which echoes the sunset and accent border colours.
