This is Ophiris. She is one of the last of her kind...and to ensure the survival of her species, she will protect her nest of eggs with her very life! She glares defiantly at anyone threatening her young as she reaches over her nest, lined with what little gold horde she retains, with her powerful outstreched claws. This is my first pure sculpt figure in my new Fantasy Sculpture series. She is a beautiful firedrake style dragon in teal green polymer clay with purple and goldish green accent scales. Her body is 'blushed" with an irridescent powder to accent her main scales. Her wings are made of liquid polymer clay that has been tinted with oil pigments. And her eyes, teeth, tongue, mouth, horns, back scales and underside scales have been glazed for shine and realism. She is made over a wire armature and rests on a base of polymer clay covered wood. The base depicts her nest made of stones and her gold horde that holds her precious eggs. She is completely removable from her nest. Each body scale was made individually with handmade tools I made of polymer clay just for my dragon sculptures. And her back scales and underside scales, as well as her teeth, eyes and tongue were individually made and set into the sculpture. Ophiris is not an evil dragon...she longs for the days of old when her kind could bestow thier gifts of healing and good luck upon mankind...but until the hearts of man are true, she will do what she must to protect her own! Live in your fantasy and enjoy her as much as I do!
