The star-crossed lovers on their first anniversary.
Juliet's left hand bears the wedding band from their secret marriage. In Romeo's hand is the empty vial of poison with a decorative asp around the throat of it. He took the poison when he thought Juliet had died. Juliet was not dead, but had taken a sleeping potion to feign death. When she awoke and found Romeo dead with no poison left for her to drink, she plunged a dagger into her breast and thus joined her true love.
The lone mouse is their only guest at the celebration in their tomb.
