Painted especially for the 2004 Pet Portrait swap. This is my rendition of Rita's sweet little Emilee a Pekinese puppy. I decided to paint on the wood cut with the bark still showing because it had a nice rustic feeling to it that made the puppy seem to feel at home.

It was a real pleasure to try a portrait of an animal, and keep it loose yet more realistic than my usual work.
