"Alice and the Mad Hatter" - the latest installment in my ever-popular "Alice in Wonderland" series - this is the 21st painting in the series (wow) - and I think it is my BEST! This is one of those extra special paintings I simply can't stop staring at. Alice and the Mad Hatter - yes, finally I've painted him - Alice looking frankly bored, and Hatta looking frankly MAD. Inspired a bit by Tom Waits' song lyric "Mad as a Hatter... thin as a dime" - he's nearly skeletal. Of course there's not a lot of nutrition in a meal consisting solely of tea and mushrooms! It also looks like he's suffered a head wound or trauma of some kind. Mushrooms of all kinds fill the plates, and a glowing viscous liquid fills the tea set. A decided Steampunk flair (this piece goes with my Alice in Steampunk subset series) - cogs and gears and clockwork inspired by Lewis Carroll's elements of time, mathematics and of course clocks. There is a phenomenal amount of detail in this, I stayed up in the wee hours working on this - going a bit mad myself..... This is an ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PAINTING - it measures 24" by 18".
