Angela's Photograph Cotton Balls

Media:  beads
Dimensions:  40 inches
Date of Work:  half of 2008

Ah! I made it! With more than 24 hours before it really is too late! This entry is for the Annual Rip-off Show. My partner, Angela Gue, has wonderful works in many different media in her portfolio. I decided to rip-off her photograph called Cotton Ball. I was drawn to the colors of brown and white and the textures of sticks and cotton balls. I wondered if I could do something to evoke the same reaction with beads and string. Here is my attempt at that. The necklace is 40 inches long, nice to layer with other necklaces. Or, it can be double wrapped, by using the clasp. I used a mixture of brown and white beads, made of glass, wood, pearls, buffalo bone, ceramic, smokey quartz and jasper. The necklace is asymetrical, with one side done in ruffles of wild peyote stitch between the bigger beads. The other side is several strands interwoven. These are wire wrapped in sterling silver to a sterling silver S-clasp. I hope Angela enjoys the necklace. Her photograph truely inspired me to try a mixture of textures while confining myself to brown and white. Thank you so much for the inspiration, Angela!
