A single black-eyed Susan is the olny thing left in my garden now that we are at the end of October. Even the mums have taken a turn for the worse, so a single golden bloom is all that is left... It's appropriate that the Black-eyed Susan is the October Flower of the Month pick for EBSQ.
I started with a sketch of six blooms. After that, all bets were off. I started out really liking the painting, and then turned quickly to really hating it! I have it at a point now that I really think it is fun, cheerful, perky painting. It's a big departure from the little black eyed susan left in my now brown flower garden. This painting makes me die for spring... sigh... and it is not even winter yet.
