This piece was highly influenced by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Renoir painted numerous paintings of the nude female figure in bathing and seated compositions. I am mesmerized by these paintings and how they are so subdued and have such a serene feeling to them. The other master who influenced this piece is Pablo Picasso. In my rendition of The Bathers I was striving to to find balance between the flow of the bodies and the interplay of texture, shape and color. I wanted to capture Renoir's beauty of the humane figure, yet add Picasso's zest for life and energy.
