I was looking at medieval art online, and found a beautiful image of St. Francis and birds. The image dates back to the late 13th century... around 1280 at best guess, and is located at St. Mary's, Wissington, Suffolk, England. The gentle serenity in this ancient artwork captured my imagination, and "Bird Girl" was born. See the detail photo for "St. Francis Preaching to the Birds".
