I always wanted a venus fly trap. I thought they were just so gnarley and cool. Although I have a serious problem with touching bugs, you can apparently feed them small pieces of hamburger meat as "fly supplements." When I began searching out colors for this piece (I had to use mostly acrylics because I started the painting too close to the deadline) it occured to me that the colors of this plant were very beautiful and vibrant as a collection. They were a lovely assortment, and I was using them to paint something very deadly (albeit, for a fly.) THAT made me start thinking of people I knew that were nice and friendly on the surface, but all evil underneath. I went in circles trying to decide what to name this, and even thought of leaving it un-named. Finally it was between Elizabeth and Succubus.... I decided to make it succubus so you could attribute more easily the name of your choosing to it. ;-)
