The Sophisticate - 12x24x.75"

Ok, this guy has a vice, which is smoking. I chose to depict smoking as a vice, because I find it strange that once upon a time, smoking was considered sophisticated and "cool" even among celebrities or movie stars of the day, but these days if you smoke, you are considered nothing less than a social pariah.

He seems to be saying: "I can quit anytime I want to, I just don't want to!", but he's in denial. You know the type, I'm sure. He obviously doesn't realize just how addicted he is!

If he tried to stop, he thinks he can go "cold turkey" and just stop altogether. Ah, but it won't be quite that easy. People have been hypnotized, brainwashed, and wore nicotine patches without success. Yes, this is one bad habit (or vice) that isn't easily kicked!

Although the background may look white in these photos, it is actually a very light creamy buttermilk color. His eyes are a piercing shade of deep blue, his hair and part of his face are a light-grayish slate blue, and his eyelids are a chocolate brown tone. There are subtle gray wafts of smoke billowing up from his lit cigarette that hangs from his mouth. He also sports a moustache and goatee.

The outlines are all done in black, some of which are curved and others are hard angled, there are a lot of "geometric shapes and angles".

The sides are painted black, so there's no need for expensive framing; it's ready to hang.

I signed it on the lower right side (angle) of his shirt.
