Cacti have a predisposition towards withdrawal from floral society. Their sharp spikes push us away and, as such, offering affection towards them is difficult.
However, I have a great affection for them and they are the only botanicals I actually have in the house. Being a lazy indoor gardener they can stand the weeks of non-watering I subject them to!!!
This shot was captured just after watering using supermacro settings with flash at Glasgow's Botanical Gardens. The composition is intended; the use of positive and negative space is a well-used element of my photography. I did have to manipulate the background slightly to eradicate interference.
