Media:  Polymer, Papier Mache, Fabric, Wire
Dimensions:  10" x 10" approx
Date of Work:  2007

No molds or presses are used in any of my doll or sculpture art. I'm a self taught multi media artist and this is one of my art doll creations. The Story: My cats love to dance, or so it seems as they glide across the room after a moth or pursue a fly at the window. This black cat is no exception and her creation was inspired by the breathtaking grace of our feline friends. Definitely a magickal cat, she's dressed in black, gold and orange and wears little leather ballet slippers! You can pose her legs at the knees to change her dance steps. She's an enchanting, one of a kind piece of art perfect for the cat lover and will never be duplicated. Call her sculpture or a doll, either way, she's charming and cheerful and will be sure to put a smile on your face. The Details: Sasha's head is polymer. Her whiskers are curled violet blue jewelry wire baked in the polymer. Her figural eyes are enhanced by green Swarovski crystals for a beautiful catlike gaze. Her entire body is built on a full wire armature. Her torso, arms, and legs from the knees down are papier mache that has been painted and sealed. Her tail is black suede that I've sealed over strong wire that is attached to her body under her garments. From her thighs to her knees, she is wrapped fabric over the armature wire so you can bend her at the knees to change her dance step (note this in the photos below - you will see how her dance step changes). She wears black nylon and lycra tights on her upper legs. There is a dowl running through her body, right into her head and down into the wood block base for a secure foundation. Her clothing is made of layers of black tulle, orange silk and golden cloth enhanced with genuine Swarovski crystals. Her ballet slippers are made of leather. All her clothing including her ballet slippers are handmade. The wooden base is wrapped with silky ribbon in shades of blue and enahanced with genuine Swarovski crystals. Sasha is signed and dated on the bottom of the wooden base. She measures 10 1/2" tall top of her ears to the bottom of the wooden base. Sasha has found a wonderful loving home in Austin, Texas.
