This is my final piece for the "lifting the vale show." This black opal ring is a divination Talisman. This Talisman Incorporates the mystic trinity with the leaves and uses black opal power stone. Also I really wanted to use this grand stone too. As I cut it back in the spring and was just letting it gather dust. This piece was designed around a 7 mm X 11 mm stunning fire black opal. As is the case of most black opals like diamonds their value will keep you from cutting them down. Opal rings are made to the stone not the stone to the ring, with the main difference being no two opals are ever the same. Opals maybe close in color, never the same pattern displayed. The ring derives it's name Rain Dance as it looked like a raindrop catching and refracting the light of the sun like a rainbow. This is an Australian lightning ridge black opal they are the most stable opals in the world, and the most sought after of Opals. This is a thin seam opal and could break if left too exposed in a ring or not supported enough. The stone sits lower than the leaves with a sheet of 14kt gold applied to the back with epoxy. I doubt it will ever break now, short of catching your hand in a door. If that happens I do not believe you will be thinking about a ring. Not very much. Historically Opals are thought to posses the virtues of all the stones whose colors appear there in. The Roman senator Nonius, chose exile rather than surrendering a rather large opal to Mark Antony, Who wished to purchase it for Cleopatra. Black Opals are Favored by Magicians and Wiccans as "power stones." All Opals Give the "Gift of Prophecy" to the pure of heart and Astral Projection. This is from a book On Talismans Magic: OPAL - Make a powerful Talismans for persons born under the astrological sign of Libra, the opal increases clairvoyant powers, balances the psyche, sharpens the memory, attract good fortune, and gives healing power to the wearer. Opal is ruled by the Moon, and is sacred to all lunar deities. Black opal is considered to be one of the luckiest gemstones in the world for all twelve signs of the zodiac. This ring is for sale make offer. Will be placed on Ebay if it is not sold before the show ends.
