Kris Jean's work...

Media:  acrylics on river rock
Dimensions:  9.5"x8"
Date of Work:  07/2007

Created for the 2007 EBSQ Ripped Off show, a rip of the awesome pop art of fellow artist Kris Jean. I love her talent for getting just the right expression on her subjects, it draws you into their world. I decided to add my own twist, and one of my favorite subjects, my dog Gumbo. Just what is going on in that head of his?? Meet Gumbo. He has issues. Actually, just one issue, one thing that is always at the forefront of his OCD brain……when’s the next walk?? He’s been watching his mistress all day, but, she just seems to not be following their regular routine. What could possibly be more important or exciting than their long walks together?? Wait, she’s gone out the door…will she be bringing that leash back in? No, just brought in the mail. And she’s still in her bare feet, she doesn’t ever walk in bare feet on their outings, not like he does. He continues to shadow her, because, you never know, he could miss the walk if he doesn’t stay right with her at all times, she might leave without him. Yes, he does tend to get tripped over a lot, but, it’s worth it. And every time she trips over him, she looks down and says “soon Gumbo, be patient”. Like he understands those sounds?? He’s too busy watching body language. Stopped for a drink because it’s important to stay hydrated for these walks, and he’s nearly missed the fact that she has brought her WALKING SHOES out and is putting them on!!! This is almost too much excitement to bear! Here we go, out the door together, she’s grabbed his harness and leash and he just can’t stand it he has to jump straight up into the air and help her get the leash on! It’s important to help, because that means the walk gets underway that much faster! Oh, it’s been FOREVER since they last walked! Well, ok, it was yesterday…..
