Susan McSherry artandartifacts

Media:  glass beads, sterling silver chain and wire
Dimensions:  18" long, 2 1/4" pendant
Date of Work:  July 2007

I love Susan McSherry's work! Her large orbs are fantastic. The fact that her designs must all come together in the round is really a testament to her vision of her work from start to finish.

I thought about doing a traditional or non-traditional mosaic, but decided that beads and chain and wire would be an interesting twist. Those materials would allow me to focus on her theme and flow and have a jumping off point for a new interpretation rather than just a re-interpretation. Also, my piece would have movement that would address the wonderful sense of flow in Susan McSherry's work.

I used Sterling Silver wire and chain, heart, round and lady bug beads and some black seed beads to tie my piece back to Susan McSherry's dark grout in "Swami Ball Romance Adviser." I focused on re-creating the main shapes of that wonderful orb in a more simple statement.

Thank you Susan of artandartifacts for partnering with me for this show!
