For the past year I been learning about Japanese woodwork, design, architecture, and landscape at the Evergreen College, in Olympia WA. I really love the handcraft art of the Japanese people. When I heard about this show "Light my Way", I decided to create a shoji lantern using my skills and knowledge. The lantern is made of alder and dark walnut woods and is put together by using mortise and tenon joinery. The top is carved and sanded to give a look of an ancient Japanese building. I choose to implement the green stain glass because I like colored and I wanted to give the lantern their own identity.
