My aunt Blanche's specialty was "puttins" as she called them. She was there on Sundays always creating a specialty for her family and friends. Her home always smelled good and always felt safe. She had a way of working and filling our bellies that was as natural an event as rolling off a log. Here she is cooking in her old kitchen. She is making French apple dumplings topped with maple syrup and filling them with raisins, cranberries, apples and nuts.
