Original acrylic from a series of paintings of birds and their nests. These are very expressive paintings with a subject always on the move. Birds are movement creatures and the nest building process involves a great deal of movement. I painted this series of paintings not to capture a particular bird, but merely to capture a wild animal (bird) going through a process in their life cycle... nest building is a process for almost every animal in our world, including the human animal, whether it is a hole in the ground or a bunch of sticks, grass and twine in a tree. It was irrelevant to me what species of bird this was, for the reasons behind the painting, it did not matter. It is a Spottedback Weaver from South Africa. What mattered to me was the process of depicting an animal in flight for the reason of building a nest to birth its offspring. Painted on gallery wrapped canvas 1.5" deep edges finished and ready to hang.
