Media:  Digital Sketch
Dimensions:  6 inches x 20 inches
Date of Work:  02/07

This is a loose digital sketch created from a stock photograph. Words in background relate to the Lemur's endangered status and the text was borrowed from wikipedia.org. In pouring over photos of this stunning little critter I was struck by his amazing tail and wanted to make a long vertical piece to emphasize that feature. I feel like the text is a nice texture that repeats the horizontal stripes of the tail. Those interested in Photoshop should note that the main filter used was "cut-out" and the line work was all achieved by hand with a stylus & Wacom tablet. I often go back and forth in layers working with filters and then drawing on top, reducing opacity, drawing some more and so on. The orange and yellow background was created in Adobe Illustrator and then imported into Photoshop. A gradient layer was applied over the background image to make it darker at the bottom.
