Prospectus: It's just a piece of tile or rock or some other bit of nothing. Maybe it's a pretty colour. Perhaps it's an interesting shape or shiny and reflective. Whatever it is, it may be kind of neat but it really isn't much on it's own. However, combine it with other bits and pieces and something wonderful is created. That is the magic of mosaic.
"The Sum Of Its Parts: A Mosaic Show" is a media specific show featuring works of mosaic. No other media is eligible for this show and the mosaic work must be created by hand with individual pieces of material. Because digital mosaics are created on the computer in 2 dimensions, they are not eligible for this show. There are no restrictions on what can be created, as long as it is in mosaic.
A statement detailing the materials, process, and what made you choose your subject is required. It increases understanding of your work and significantly enhances the experience for the viewer. As texture or other small elements may be pivotal to the piece, detail shots are encouraged. All points of the prospectus should be met.
