This is my entry in the Annual Ripped Off Show. My inspiration came from Heather Sims. I have admired her still life painting titled "Ode to Polish Pottery" with its charming blue and white patterned crockery. Heather's Flower of the Month show entry titled "Peony with Soul" is bold and splashy. Heather paints with acrylic paint which lends itself to her free, exuberant style. For my interpretation of Heather's work, I wanted to emphasize the exuberance of her peony by combining it with the blue and white patterns from the pottery. What you see here is the result. My "Ripped Polish Peony" is rendered in oil on stretched canvas. It was lots of fun to do, and re-interpreting Heather's work made me appreciate the originals even more!
